update

I have not been a very good blogger lately. As my summer class is ending this week and I have a final on the horizon my attention has been deviated... I am still around and I will definitely be back to posting with the same consistency as before - so just sit tight and stay tuned! :)

Big Apple BBQ!

I just got in from the Big Apple Barbecue! I highly recommend it and suggest you all make the trek down to Madison Square Park to taste their wares. I had two excellent pulled pork sandwiches (yes, go hungry!) Each booth charges a maximum of $8.00 and it is well worth it. Yes you must brave the lines, but they move surprisingly fast so there is no using that as an excuse to miss it. Plus there is live music, tshirt giveaways and some of the finest bbq you are going to get this far north. So kick off your summer the right way- today is also the last day so hurry and enjoy!

98 degrees... (Things I am loving this week)

It is beyond muggy outside, I went for a small walk to the local HousingWorks to see if I could find some new summer reads - I wound up purchasing three books for $2 :) Maverick Cat is sunbathing on my windowsill completely unaffected by the rising temperatures - there may be jungle cat in him yet! My class for tonight got cancelled because of the extreme heat and our Professor's asthma - which the dork in me is pretty sad about. Ah well - plenty more time for internet surfing, book reading and lemonade drinking.

How I Spent My Wednesday...

Summer is in full swing in New York City and like many Manhattanites I have sought refuge from the oppressive heat and humidity- finding solace in my air conditioned apartment, naps with Maverick cat, library books, HBO Go and afternoon luncheon outings with friends (wherein you travel from the air conditioned subway car to the air conditioned restaurant and back)!

If you too are feeling the heat I have decided to offer up some of the day's entertainments:

I am about midway through and I am absolutely absorbed in this book - I was even brave enough to attempt to keep reading while on a rush hour 1 train! Once I am finished I will give a proper review.

I met up with my friend S at Bryant Park this afternoon and took a short walk over to Ruby Foo's - it is definitely a typical tourist place, but I did actually enjoy my Pad Thai!

Oh HBOGo, you are a marvelous invention - I have crushed the first season in an afternoon - and now I have the books on my library queue :) If you enjoy medieval themed shows/movies or were a LOTR fan you will definitely enjoy it!

Hope you are all staying cool. I have plans this weekend to finally picnic/tan in Central Park and a bunch of friends are thinking about attending a few of the movie in the park nights at Bryant Park - so many more summer oriented posts are on the way!
